Whilst you’re with us, it’s always worth paying a trip to our information room. Here you’ll find leaflets and brochures for a wide selection of local activity centres and attractions. There is also a computer here which is free to be used by Combrew guests.
Tarka Tennis is a fantastic tennis and sports centre in Barnstaple, located in the rolling hills beside the River Taw. This lively tennis centre has 10 tennis courses (6 indoor & 4 outdoors) as well as table tennis, badminton, gymnastics and pilates facilities.
The courts can be hired for ‘free play’ games, however, if you fancy improving your game, private coaching and group courses are also available. If you’re not keen on playing and would rather watch or relax with a cup of coffee, there is an indoor balcony and a coffee lounge/bar area. There are also viewing areas with seating around the outside courts.

Not only is the beautiful fishing lake at Blakewell a mecca for fans of fly fishing, it’s also a must for lovers of water gardens and nature. Set in a secluded position in a tranquil Devon valley, Blakewell stocks Rainbow trout all year round and brown trout from April until September.
Children will take great delight in feeding the hungry trout, throwing their very first line, and learning all about how trout is raised. There is a dedicated ‘Children’s Corner Lake’ and all equipment is provided.

Calling all adrenaline junkies! The Keypitts quad biking centre offers an exhilarating day out for kids and ‘big kids’ aged 6+. Blast through fields, mud, and puddles on a Suzuki 50cc, Yamaha 50cc/80cc, a 90cc Hondas or a 125cc Yamaha Breeze – there is a quad for everyone!
All track days start with a full safety briefing from an experienced instructor. After the briefing, you’ll be assessed on a practice track and asked to carry out vital manoeuvres. If you feel as though you need a little more guidance, one-on-one tuition is available.
Keypitts also offer a white knuckle off road driving experience in a 4 x 4 Land Rover Discovery. This thrilling 30-minute session takes you across 200 acres of challenging terrain.

Mullacott is a highly popular equestrian centre and premier indoor competition venue. No matter what your level of experience, the talented equestrian team will be able to cater for your needs. Whether you fancy going off-road for a fast ride along the beach, or a gentler ride through woodland, Mullacott have a course for you.
If horse riding isn’t for you, then you might want to try out Mullacott’s quad bikes. Different routes are available to suit all ages and abilities – the course is said to be one of the best in the country! Fast, furious, and full of fun, The Go Kart centre in Barnstaple has a great range of quality karts suitable for all ages and abilities.
With amazing speed, incredible performance, and responsive handling, the state of the art karts are suitable for beginners and experienced racers. The brand new 650m has a custom designed running surface and the very latest timing equipment.
The centre is open throughout the summer, and at weekends and school holidays out of season (we do recommend calling to confirm opening times).

Located in the heart of Devon’s picturesque countryside, The South West Shooting School enjoys stunning views across the Bristol Channel and Dartmoor.
The school caters for experienced and novice shooters alike, and tuition can be provided a highly experienced, well qualified team. The shooting school is thought to be one of the best in the country for the variety of targets, therefore it is a must for shooting enthusiasts.

As North Devon's biggest and best paintball centre, Survival Paintball boasts state of the art equipment and a fantastic 20-acre woodland arena. With a strong focus on safety, players of all ages can enjoy a highly enjoyable paintball experience. Laser games and airsoft are also offered here at Survival Paintball.
There is a practice firing range available so that you can enter the arena with full confidence! Full face safety goggles and freshly laundered fatigues are provided free of charge for your session.

The Tarka Trail can be accessed less than a mile from Combrew, at Fremington Quay. The popular track takes in all the beauty of North Devon and is a wonderful way to explore the area, whether you’re walking or cycling. A stretch of the route makes use of the old Tarka Line railway – reminders of the route’s past, such as railway signage, can be seen at various stages of the trail.
The beautiful route passes through numerous towns, including: Barnstaple, Bideford, Torrington, Hatherleigh, Okehampton, Lynmouth and Ilfracombe. Cafes and pubs are dotted along the track to keep you fuelled!
A great variety of landscapes, including wooded river valleys, rugged moorland, coastal cliffs, and sandy bays can all be found along the Tarka Trail – it’s a photographer’s dream! Walking varies between easy and strenuous depending on the location.
